Title: What 3D programs are compatible with Windows 8?
Post by: chaos_crystal on March 29, 2013, 05:17:43 AM
Yes, I know some people think Windows 8 is a piece of crap. I have a brand new laptop that has W 8, I needed to get a bargain and this Toshiba was only about $400 including tax... I would rather have had Windows 7 but for some reason that runs quite a bit higher in price!

So I understand that Blender runs fine on Windows 8. I'm disappointed to hear that Incendia does not, it seems it is not compatible with anything beyond Windows 7. How about Mandelbulb 3D? I'm also really hoping other fractal programs can be used on 8 (Fractal Explorer, Fragmentarium, Apophysis, to name a few). I've been on XP (very slow, 32 bit) for so long, I'm really into foreign ground now! The art programs I've mentioned are one big reason I bought this laptop...to try to get up to speed and be able to run with the rest of the pack!

thanks-

crystal

As far as I know XenoDream is compatible, nobody has reported any problems. The current version looks old because it doesn't have themes support but the next version will. I've read that there's nothing wrong with Windows 8 if you install Start8.

Cool....thank you! I got the new toy started up, it looks beautiful...no problems yet with Mandelbulb3D or Blender either. However Fractal Explorer looks a little dicey, not sure about that one yet! And XenoDream would be an awesome addition!
