Post by: opusGlass on March 03, 2013, 10:40:26 PM Sometimes the distance estimation looks better (for example images 3-5) but other times definitely not, like when viewing the entire non-zoomed set. It creates an interesting effect but I wouldn't try to call it better or worse. I would like to see some smooth pictures of the distance estimation rather than discretized!
Title: Re: [ᴘᴏʟʟ] Left or right? Post by: makc on March 05, 2013, 06:32:29 PM not according to the poll, results so far say iteration count is clear winner. I asked in some other places, too, and this 1 anonymous vote for distance estimator on the poll so far is all alone.

Ultra Fractal database are full with different versions of smooth / distance estimator formulas, throught probably no with an minimal iteration count estimation. But some maybe auto normalisation.
Title: Re: [ᴘᴏʟʟ] Left or right? Post by: makc on March 06, 2013, 07:20:43 PM the noise is because there is only 8 colors repeating all the way, you could put a 1000 there and the noise is gone. but the colors are not important in this test, it's geometry and it seems that people prefer "round" things to "spiky" things in general. |
