Title: Utter Newbie in Chicago (for now)
Post by: crypticfragments on February 24, 2013, 02:20:27 PM
Hello. I am an utter newbie. I started working with fractal software just about 10 days ago and now have a bunch of software that I have absolutely no clue how to use! I am trying to follow tutorials but some of the downloads don't even have he same buttons as their tutorials!
So you will probably find me asking a lot of beginner questions!
I am using software from GIMP, to Apophysis, to Incendia, to most recently Mandelbulber and Mandelbulb 3d.

Hello and welcome   O0

There are some nice Mandelbulb3D tutorials here http://www.fractalforums.com/tutorials/ Mandelbulber documentation here: http://wiki.mandelbulber.com/index.php?title=Main_Page , and many others for most software on youtube, and on DeviantArt.

Can you be more specific about what you wish to learn?

I can also highly recommend Chaoscope  (http://www.chaoscope.org)(for strange attractors) and ChaosPro  (http://www.chaospro.de)(for the Mandelbrot Set and more).  Both are free   :dink:

thanks for the replies and links! I am notoriously bad at checking back on forum msgs since facebook got me so used to instant notifications!

I have been doing a ton of experiments.
My most commonly used programs so far are:
Mandelbulb 3D
Apophysis 2.09 or 7x15
jwildfire
and Incendia
