Title: Mandelbulber 3D Animation params
Post by: SPACEY on February 18, 2013, 06:28:57 AM
Can IFS parameters be animated? The same with Mandelbox, keep changing stuff there but nothing happends.   I tried changing the vector presets in IFS tab and keep getting a glitch.  Where can I find out what parameters in what tab are animatable with out closing the program over and over?

All of the parameters can be animated!

How are you going about it, step by step?

Can you upload a sample m3a file so we can see what may be going wrong for you?

Guess he really means mandelbulber this time. No m3a file available there :hurt:

The only thing I can say is, that mandelbulber needs a reset in IFS tab before changing the IFS matrix. The last time I tried, I also had a suspicion, that behavior of IFS Matrix changes even after a reset (couldn't reproduce the same as before). Didn't follow that, for a lack of interrest and never tried to animate ifs fractals.

In principle every float variable in mandelbulber can be animated.

Oops.

I read it wrong this time!

It's clear enough, I just hadn't had my Coffee yet   :headbatting:

Sorry...

I can't help here.

Carry on.

yeah Socratease, I wonder if any of the animation parameters actually work in this version.  Very clean interface, but I have yet to change any of the parameters successfully to create morphs.  Frustrating cause I've seen other vids online of people morphing the same presets. O0

Yo Taurus.  Since I keep crashing I'll just go through my process assuming that the Hybrid parameters are the only ones that animate when on the Hybrid Fractal setting.

Simply go to the Hybrid tab, change a little iteration and scale(no new folds or fractals in the none)...hit record on the timeline.  The frame skips to an empty slot then I hit the sqaure of the first slot in the timeline to get the frac back.  I change scale and iterations again then hit Insert after, or in some cases record(when the next slot is highlighted).

I either get a crash, or the new pic with the changed parameter effects.  Anyway somewhere along the line it always crashes.  When I reopen(if I saved the settings) or even if I didn't and just load the the preset I was working with the settings are all stripped.  The timeline doesn't remember any of the changes to the hybrid settings...blech! :hmh:

Been working with the older version, but can't find very many presets.  If you know where I can find some descent ones I can learn from lettmeknow! :evil1:

definitely not!!! I do Mandelbox animatins all the time - including animated morphs. See

as proof.

there must be something wrong.

check http://mandelbulber.com/ (http://mandelbulber.com/) for documentation, and a huge gallery with many parameters (they are tagged)

... assuming that the Hybrid parameters are the only ones that animate when on the Hybrid Fractal setting.

Just to add: when on Hybrid Fractal, some parameters are ignored, some are replaced by hybrid setting - also in still frames. So it does not make sense, to try and animate them.

IMHO animating hybrids in Mandelbulber is not the best idea - mandelbulber is veeery slow in calculating hybrids.

Yes, I really like the Hybrid setting.  I downloaded a couple of different mirrors of the software and found a less buggled one.

Also I speedyd it up by lowing the image res.  Really have not seen the scale power do much of anything but the iterations look cool.  Too bad they can't be animated(they global)

So far I've just been fooling around with the folding and radius of the mandelbox setting with hybrids.  Seems to cause too drastic a change though.  Guess that's just how hybrids do. :alien:  Might try something a bit more tame.

BTW, just want to say congradulations on that November Rhapsody.  You are on the right track with that one.  Not so big on folk music but that one is gonna stay with me!

Thanks a lot, November Rhapsody was a fantastic and creative collaboration with Ulli Behrendt. It's my most elaborated animation so far  ;D
