Title: Another (?) 3D mandelbrot type
Post by: Tater on January 28, 2013, 10:47:15 PM
I have been working with

x ->  x^2-y^2-z^2 + vx
y ->  2 x y + vy
z -> z + vz

where vx, vy, vz are the x, y, z coordinates of the voxels being tested.

It seems to have detail at all levels, in the form of filaments made from filaments made from filaments...

If you replace x, y, and z with their spherical coordinates, take higher powers (say, 8), then the higher powers get more and more dense with filament structures, with the same seemingly endless succession of filaments. Attached is a closeup of an order 8, rendered with Chaos Pro.http://kernsholler.net/Fractals/BroOrder8.jpg (http://kernsholler.net/Fractals/BroOrder8.jpg)
