Title: Algae and Ruby Centerpiece Post by: Pauldelbrot on March 19, 2009, 12:58:08 AM (http://u5789.direct.atpic.com/25268/0/1271830/1024.jpg) (http://pic.atpic.com/1271830/1024) A Matchmaker Julia set from a minibrot in Seahorse Valley of a minibrot inside a large bud. It therefore has two attractors. One, associated with the large bud, has period 11 and produces the green petals; the other has period 1210 and its basin consists of a scattering of tiny nuggets. The big seahorse structures in yellow consist of high-iteration points belonging to the 11-cycle's basin, but showing the filigree structure of the Julia set around a cluster of the other basin's nuggets. These nuggets are found in the double spirals in the "algae". The period-11 attractor's basin gradient is light green to dark green to orange-yellow to yellow to white, smoothed iterations. The period-1210 attractor's basin gradient is reds and greys, phi angle. A couple of the nuggets are barely visible in the 2048x1536 version of the above image. Here is a close-up of one: (http://u5789.direct.atpic.com/25268/0/1271833/1024.jpg) (http://pic.atpic.com/1271833/1024) Freely redistributable and usable subject to the Creative Commons Attribution license, version 3.0.
