Title: Gemstones Post by: Pauldelbrot on March 16, 2009, 08:37:19 AM (http://u5789.direct.atpic.com/24801/0/1268935/1024.jpg) (http://pic.atpic.com/1268935/1024) This Julia set is from near the center of the blue minibrot prominent in Fractured Mirror II (http://www.fractalforums.com/images-showcase-(rate-my-fractal)/fractured-mirror-and-fractured-mirror-ii/). As one might expect for a point where the two "interesting" critical points are bifurcating independently, there are two attractors in addition to the omnipresent zero and infinity. Divergent points get the blue gradient by one layer and points that go to zero get the purple one; both by smoothed iterations. The attractor corresponding to the big Fractured Mirror ghost-cardioid is in the ring of golden dragons, one point in each in the main chain. This attractor's period is 23. Its basin gets two layers, one phi-angle layer and one smoothed iterations layer. The final attractor, associated with that blue minibrot, is in disconnected components that are much smaller and connect the chain of dragons. Its period is 69 and its basin is colored using only phi-angle.<p> Freely redistributable and usable subject to the Creative Commons Attribution license, version 3.0.
