Title: Playing with Buddhabrots
Post by: Fractal Ken on November 22, 2012, 03:29:03 AM
Festive Buddha
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l540/Fractal_Ken/FestiveBuddha952.png)
Min iterations = 25, Max iterations = 50

Inner Turmoil
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l540/Fractal_Ken/InnerTurmoil1024.png)
x in [-0.3, 0.1], y in [-0.6, -0.2]; Min iterations = 25, Max iterations = 500

Colorings are based loosely on ker2x's suggestion (http://www.fractalforums.com/programming/some-buddhabrot-questions-techniques/msg43957/#msg43957). The sharpness, particularly of the 2nd image, is due to counting pixel hits only when they occur on early iterations of an orbit. In these two pictures, pixel hits occurring on or after the 10th iteration are ignored. The min & max iteration numbers are still very important because they determine which orbits (c values) may be used. For example, in the first picture I only consider orbits which escape between the 25th and 50th iteration.

Nice Buddhas, Ken! are this made with your own Fortran code as always?

Good to see you around here again.

Cheers,

Kali: Hi! The code is in Fortran, of course. I'd been meaning to write a Buddhabrot generator for quite some time.

kram1032: Thanks. I used ker2x's idea of assigning overlapping ranges of iteration numbers to the red, green, and blue channels. This approach tends to create colorful pictures.

Cool. I was thinking about of making something simmilar, but in UF and Chaos Pro.

Alef, this wiki entry (http://ultrafractalwiki.fractalforums.com/Buddhabrot) may be helpful if you decide to use UF.
