Title: Intricate Rotations
Post by: M Benesi on November 18, 2012, 06:37:50 AM
First one is a Mag Mandy.  Didn't zoom- just rotated it for a demo.  Second one is a Mandy Mag, new more 3d Mandelbrot type, z^2 hollow core.  Adding another section to it in about 1/2 hour.

6th update on this one.  A minute now.  A few bad sections of clipping, no music, but the last section has less clipping.  I'll do another section while I'm working on Fragmentarium coloring scripts tomorrow (well... t+14 hours or so).

Amazing gears  - Which program did you use for the animation?

Its's Chaos Pro. It's allways have black line at the bottom and this formula so far are only in Chaos Pro;)

If you check this thread (http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?topic=13495.msg54337#msg54337), I made a version of it for Fragmentarium.  Do need to iron it out a bit though- code is quite messy at the moment.

ChaosPro, as Asdam said.  The code isn't cleaned up yet- need to do a re-release with the new options included- and I have another idea to try out before I do that.

I like the option of using a palette for coloring.  Allows one to rotate through specific assigned colors with the strength of the orbit.  Helps with the details, as the orbit strength of these particular fractal types is strongly associated with the 3 dimensional details of the fractal (as you can see in the animations).

I'm having problems with the time function in Fragmentarium- for some reason when running animations, it doesn't increment, although it does increment in continuous mode.  The code for Fragmentarium (which isn't finalized, just like the ChaosPro code...) is located in the last post in Mikael's non-DE thread (http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?topic=13495.msg54337#msg54337).

In addition, it <Fragmentarium> doesn't do multiple samples when I use animation mode, so I end up with fuzzy looking animations.  In continuous mode, it samples as many times as I want and makes nice images.

Note the italicized "I" and "I'm".  Other people are getting animations to work in Fragmentarium- it's not the software, it's my lack of knowledge.

No, it *is* the software - you are not doing anything wrong. Fragmentarium cannot render animations using the progressive renderers. When I get some spare time, I'll fix and improve the animation stuff, but as of now it is pretty useless.

Maybe the animation tab doesn't work.  But my discovery of the rotation mod for this fractal type is the direct consequence of the quickness of Fragmentarium's continuous rendering, in addition to the rotation matrix code that I saw in Knighty's KIFS code.  Fragmentarium is awesome.. although it'll be nice to be able to do animations someday- and use palettes.  :)

Here is another quick animation (MOVED TO TOP OF THREAD).  I'm putting together a series of parts, and will connect them together.  This is a slightly better resolution, with a slow change from z^2 to "z^0" (percentage weight shifts).

I love these infinite clockworks.
Make me want to become a fractal watchmaker...

Yeah... think these are why I kept on imagining the clicking Sylar ?heard? in Heroes last night.  Or maybe it's the damn clock.
