Title: Apophysis animation 6 Post by: Dinkydau on February 09, 2009, 07:03:36 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1Z3Yxs0qQM
Quality: 1500 I'm planning on using 2000 for the next one. Also I've received complaints about the continuous use of sierpinski triangles so that means I'll try from now on to keep them out of my animations wherever I can. Only if it doesn't ruin the animation of course. Code: link: Title: Re: Apophysis animation 6 Post by: bib on February 09, 2009, 08:20:08 PM good job :D
could you provide some details : Number of key frames (or flames) Number of transforms (standard or plugins) and which one are your favorites Final transform "Manual" design time and what is your "methodology" Flam3 calc time ... Thanks and keep on doing these nice animations! Personnaly I like Sierpinskies ;) but also Julias, Von Kochs, etc... Title: Re: Apophysis animation 6 Post by: Dinkydau on February 10, 2009, 01:14:52 AM There are 108 keyframes.
I've used the variations linear, juliaN, Ngon, pie and more of less importance. The final variations used are, 4 linear transforms, and 1 Ngon transform which was also the final transform. It took me about 2 weeks or more to design it all, but I took my time. I've lost the total rendering time because my computer shut down 4 times while rendering, all 4 times because of problems with the electricity. More details: Animation type = 0 (morph) and 1 (sheep) (I've used both) Render width = 1024 Render height = 768 Render quality = 1500 Filter radius = 0.3 Oversample = 3 Filetype = 1 (PNG) Number of frames per animation stage = 150 and 100 (I've used both) Flam3 motion blur amount = 15 Transfer masterscale/zoom values = 0 (no) Animation loop = 0 (no) Title: Re: Apophysis animation 6 Post by: bib on February 11, 2009, 03:15:05 PM I've lost the total rendering time because my computer shut down 4 times while rendering, all 4 times because of problems with the electricity. Thanks for the details. I'll try Ngon ;) Did you have to start the rendering all over again each time ? Have you ever tried to render Apo animations using Ultra Fractal with the Apophysis coloring formula ? Title: Re: Apophysis animation 6 Post by: Dinkydau on February 12, 2009, 08:03:01 PM I cannot open flame files with Ultra fractal, and no UPR files (that Apophysis can export) either.
There is a guide on how to open those files somewhere, but I cannot get access to it. There is it: http://apophysis.wikispaces.com/Flames+in+Ultrafractal The rendering process didn't have to start all over again, only the frames it was rendering at the times the electricity stopped. This can easily be done by editing the .bat file that starts the process. There these 4 lines of text: Code: REM ------------ Oh, my details were not correct. I have used 4 linear transforms and 1 Ngon final transform for the last couple keyframes. Title: Re: Apophysis animation 6 Post by: bib on February 13, 2009, 12:01:11 AM I was mentionning this because Ultrafractal automatically continues a rendering job after any failure (software or hardware) without having to edit any batch.
You can open an Apo flame in Ultrafractal this way : - In Apophysis, go to Options/Options - In the UPR tab, enter "apophysis-205" in the Identifier field and "apophysis.ucl" in the File field - click on "export UPR" in the File menu - In the File name field, enter a file name with .upr extension (e.g c:\....\myflames1.upr) - In the title field leave the apo flame name (e.g. Apo3D-090212-1) or type any name - In Ultrafractal, go to Options/Update Public Formulas and select whatever option you wish (Full Formula collection if it's the first time) and click OK. It will download the Apophysis Outside coloring formula, which is a kind of Apophysis emulator in Ultrafractal. - Click on the Browse button (CTRL+B) and select you upr file - Then select one of the flame you've exported There you go! You can now take full advantage of the powerful and user-friendly Ultrafractal animation mode (which will render with the nice "Evaluation version" watermarks if you did not purchase it!) and much more : mappings, layers, etc... The problem is that there are only standard transforms available, no plugins. Hope this helps Title: Re: Apophysis animation 6 Post by: Dinkydau on February 14, 2009, 01:18:21 AM - In Ultrafractal, go to Options/Update Public Formulas and select whatever option you wish (Full Formula collection if it's the first time) and click OK. Ok, thanks, I did it... but there's nowhere I can change the quality, edit transforms or anything else. Also, Apophysis renders it much sharper. I'll stick withwith Apophysis and flam3. I haven't tried deeply, but I thought you might be able to modify the Render settings in the Outside tab and in the Render to Disk window. To edit tranforms, obviously you can't use the visual triangle system as in Apophysis, but you can still play at least with some parameters: number of transforms, triangle's points coordinates one at a time using the Explore feature, and more... Here is an example, very humble compared to the amount of knowledge and work you put into your Apophysis animations, and the quality of the final result, you're the boss, boss ;) http://www.youtube.com/v/7wiqSfl1cP0&hl=fr&fs=1 Title: Re: Apophysis animation 6 Post by: David Makin on February 14, 2009, 03:23:26 PM - In Ultrafractal, go to Options/Update Public Formulas and select whatever option you wish (Full Formula collection if it's the first time) and click OK. You can change anything in the parameters for the outside colouring. The "quality" is set by the "Sample Density" parameter - just increase it for denser renders. Title: Re: Apophysis animation 6 Post by: David Makin on February 14, 2009, 05:40:31 PM If not doing animations then don't use Render to Disk for flames in UF, instead set the image size in "Fractal Properties" to the size you want then use "Export Image" from the file menu to save the rendered image.
If you want to render large (for prints) then you'll need to change the default max image size settings in Options-Options-Fractal. Note that you'll find that there's a maximum size limit when trying to render flames in UF - the exact maximum depends on your system (amount of RAM) but there is an absolute maximum since UF can't handle memory blocks >2GB, in practice the limit is actually less than 2GB for the image itself. Title: Re: Apophysis animation 6 Post by: Dinkydau on February 15, 2009, 02:34:05 AM There's actually alot more you can do with flames in Ultra fractal than I thought.
Thanks for the help! It isn't such a hassle to resume stopped flam3 renders, I'll keep using it. It may be interesting though do a combined render of normal "Ultra fractal fractals" and flames. That's what several fractal artists have been doing - the one probably foremost in this is Rick Spix: http://rykk.deviantart.com/ http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/browse.php?username=rykk You'll have to look through to find them - but I think you'll enjoy Rick's work :) |
