Title: Menger sponge fly-through Post by: twinbee on February 08, 2009, 03:24:02 PM There's a scene demo from Andromeda & Orb called "Stargazer", and it's all good, but the last part (say from 4:00) contains a tasty menger sponge flythrough animation with a nice, large field of vision. It's raytraced too, at least to a degree :)
The demo can be downloaded from: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=51438 Alternatively, you can see it at Youtube.com, but the quality is poor in comparison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NChUmWnF_uo Anyone else know of any demos with animated 3D fractals inside? Title: Re: Menger sponge fly-through Post by: twinbee on February 09, 2009, 12:03:56 AM I love the "Aztec Relic : Golden Gears" one - that looks really weird/cool.
Any chance of an uncompresssed 60fps 1024*768 version of that.... (drools...). Doesn't have to be realtime ;) Title: Re: Menger sponge fly-through Post by: David Makin on February 09, 2009, 08:41:19 PM I'm planning on doing a CD of hi-res, longer playing versions of most of my YouTube animations plus a few more - probably as ".mov" in h264 or Apple MPEG 4 format.
I'll let you know when it's sorted :) Title: Re: Menger sponge fly-through Post by: twinbee on February 09, 2009, 09:30:59 PM Wow that's awesome! Any chance of a 60fps framerate for that? Despite doubling the render time and disk space, it just adds that extra smoothness which is hard to describe in words.

http://www.scene.org/file.php?file=%2Fparties%2F2008%2Fnvscene08%2Fdemo%2Fstargazer.zip&fileinfo it is a extraordinary nice demo, it is a demo containing much realtime rendered gfx be sure to watch the executable! hehe, i have a made also an zooming menger sponge, try my 4k intro released in 2004 :D http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=30452 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 Title: Re: Menger sponge fly-through Post by: twinbee on February 10, 2009, 01:27:54 PM Cool that you make demos too Trifox - wish I had the skills/patience to learn.
Nice demo - though couldn't find a zooming menger sponge in that one ;) Title: Re: Menger sponge fly-through Post by: cKleinhuis on February 10, 2009, 02:19:46 PM each cube you see in the demo is a menger sponge, but only with iteration 2 or 3 .... the hires version has a bit more iterations on the sponges, but i know the intro is booooring and has no music.... Title: Re: Menger sponge fly-through Post by: twinbee on February 16, 2009, 05:43:21 AM Ace demo that, especially the way each object metamorphs. It's even got Lycium's 'Rise' in there too! |
