This image results from zooming into the Herman Ring Mandelbrot c-plane, with a = 0.332, near a turbulent feature between two large buds. The image is rotated 90 degrees.

Three layers are used: smoky pale blue shading to grey and then red (divergent points), smoky pale aqua shading to grey and then yellow (points attracted to zero), and a distance estimator layer subtracted to give a grey edge to the regions.

Black points belong to the Mandelbrot-like set, and correspond to the presence of a finite attractor other than zero.

Full-size image is 1024x3072; click the image above and then the link for that size to get it.
