Title: Badlands
Post by: Eric B on October 30, 2012, 06:02:25 PM
It's known the Mandelbrot set has a hausdorff dimension of 2, so it's about as gnarly as you're going to find amongst commonly seen 2D images (the escape time images). I use a non-lossy compression (.PNG file type, the images are not degraded) thus the more information dense images are not compressed as much. Most of the my full-size escape time images ( ~ 1 megapixel) are > 1.5 megabytes after compression. Badlands is apparently the most information dense image I've rendered as after compression the file size is 2,418K!!

Enjoy this 3D image, especially on LCD displays. You may feel your retina being warped by the fractal gods if you look at it too long.
