Title: Object rotation in Mandelbulb 3d
Post by: Mikelo on October 17, 2012, 03:08:02 PM
Hi all,
My name's Mike.
Has anyone really looked into the new rotation feature in Mandelbulb v182?
It appears to rotate the object rather than changing the viewpoint.
What I've been trying to do is animate a Mandelbox by rotating in 2 planes, but try as I might, I can't get a continuously revolving object
without the rotation axis changing. What I'd like to be able to do is just have 2 animation frames, the first with no rotation set,
and the second would be a copy (with a few parameters changed) with an x and y rotation of 360 x n , i.e. n full rotations.
I think I understand 3d rotations fairly well, but suspect that I'm not going to be able to do this. The problem is that I don't seem to be
able to break it down using multiple keyframes with smaller rotations either.
Anyone managed to master this new feature?

I forgot to mention - is there no formula that can provide this effect?
