Deep in the seahorse valley of a shallow minibrot. Smoothed iterations coloring with layering used just to add fine details to the gradient to bring out the lightning bolt like filaments.

Very nice. I like the colors.

Paul Derbyshire long ago published some coordinates for a view he called "Metaphase". I've taken that set of coordinates and made a couple of animated deep zooms. I'll post a still image of it in another thread.

Yes -- that was me.

The maybe-shocking thing is, the "metaphase" structure can be found all over the place in many variations.

That was you?! Well, glad to see you're visiting this forum! Thanks for all the great work you've done over the years and all the contributions you've made to this art.

I have also noticed that this theme is all over the place in the Mandelbrot set. I've made about 10 or 15 different variations of this that I hope to use for some more animated zooms eventually. I even made one with a cubic Mandelbrot -- a tripolar metaphase. I will post it here later.

I suppose another title for this one here have been "telophase".  :D
