Title: Re: Look what i found! Post by: Duncan C on September 02, 2009, 04:10:06 AM That's pretty amazing. Looks like the humble DS has more computing power than I thought.
When I first started playing with Mandelbrot sets back in the mid 1980s, it took 45 minutes to render an 800x600 Mandelbrot set at 256 iterations. That was with a floating point coprocessor no less. I wonder how you install homebrew apps onto a DS? Duncan C Title: Re: Look what i found! Post by: Cyclops on September 02, 2009, 10:32:32 AM That's pretty amazing. Well we have DS linker which is like a cartridge that plugs into the GBA port(it has a port that allows you to play Game Boy Advance games) When I first started playing with Mandelbrot sets back in the mid 1980s, it took 45 minutes to render an 800x600 Mandelbrot set at 256 iterations. Plug into PC,initiate transfer mode and just drag and drop. Its a pretty awesome macine for its size. I also have a Korg analog synth for it with 3 oscillators. Re the fractal program,it says on their site that they hope to have a version that allows you to save the images you create with it. |
