Title: Bat Fractal Post by: HPDZ on January 23, 2009, 06:06:11 AM Here are a few images of a fractal I accidentally made due to a bug in my software while trying to create a Newton cubic polynomial fractal. I call it the "Bat Fractal" because it kind of looks like a bat in low-magnification views. This is an overview with a size of 4 vertically in the complex number plane (i.e. imag from -2 to +2, real from -8/3 to +8/3). No smoothing is applied to this image. (http://www.fractalforums.com/gallery/0/359_23_01_09_5_53_36.jpg) This is a close-up of the first heart-shaped structure up from the center, also with no smoothing: (http://www.fractalforums.com/gallery/0/359_23_01_09_5_55_35_0.jpg) The same thing with exponential smoothing: (http://www.fractalforums.com/gallery/0/359_23_01_09_5_55_35_1.jpg) This is a Julia-type fractal, so no matter where or how deep you zoom, you always see the same thing, and it looks like this: (http://www.fractalforums.com/gallery/0/359_23_01_09_5_55_35_2.jpg) I'm exploring this thing more, and I'll make an animated zoom sometime soon, which will get posted to www.hpdz.net (http://www.hpdz.net). |
