This fractal is a strange attractor with 6-way dihedral symmetry. It was found using the Fractal Science Kit fractal generator built-in program "Symmetric Attractors (Search)" which searches for interesting attractors with rotational/dihedral symmetry.

The program is based on an algorithm described in the paper:

Chaotic attractors with cyclic symmetry revisited,
Kevin C. Jones and Clifford A. Reiter (Lafayette College).

Very striking, and "Christmasy" image. Well done.

Cool stuff. In a perfect world, snowflakes would look somewhat like this, and also be lit up as they fall.
