Title: Howdy Post by: willvarfar on August 14, 2012, 08:49:44 AM Hello Everyone!
I'm William Edwards, I'm a hobby programmer and this is my blog (http://williamedwardscoder.tumblr.com/). I've been asking a few questions on the programming board but hadn't got around to introducing myself! As an untrained newbie I'm struggling to understand a lot of things and have cut-n-pasted code I don't understand. I'd like to take the opportunity to ask which board I might ask dumb, ill-informed questions like: * "if Iterations is a 'level of detail' setting, can the value of Iterations be scaled by ray distance travelled?" and * "how do you colour a 3D fractal?" ? Loving all the rate-my-fractals images and videos! They are super-inspiring and I'm fighting the urge to just spam them all with "like it!" messages. But if you post an image, you *want* people to show appreciation. So from now on, I'm going to start chiming in even if I have no useful input, just to say that I liked it. And a mod can PM me if I have to dial the enthusiasm back a bit :) Title: Re: Howdy Post by: cKleinhuis on August 14, 2012, 09:07:51 AM Hello and welcome to the forums
the programmer board is the right section to ask, you know there can not and will never be a dumb question, just answers may be dumb feel free to comment, why not starting with commenting each of my chaostv issues? :D Title: Re: Howdy Post by: eiffie on August 14, 2012, 04:46:08 PM I would assume varying the iterations by distance would introduce noise since there is discontinuity between integer iterations. But since I haven't tried it this may be one of those "dumb answers" :) |
