Title: More kaleidoscopes Post by: Duncan C on December 07, 2008, 04:57:37 PM I've been on a real kaleidoscope kick lately.
Here are a couple more recent creations: They were both created from Julia set fractals created using FractalWorks (http://web.mac.com/dchampney/Site/FractalWorks.html), a free, high performance fractal renderer for Macintosh computers. Title: Re: More kaleidoscopes Post by: cKleinhuis on December 09, 2008, 09:33:47 PM excellent, i prefer the blue one !
great work! O0 Title: Re: More kaleidoscopes Post by: twinbee on December 13, 2008, 12:56:02 AM I love these. Symmetry is always a nifty way of getting a nice pattern.
The above two look like the entrances to heaven and hell respectively ;) Title: Re: More kaleidoscopes Post by: _db_ on December 15, 2008, 12:43:34 AM Nice work! The embossed effect on the blue one works really well with that image.

The embossed look isn't an effect though. These are real 3D shapes, lit with directional lighting. The embossed look is an effect of the directional lighting. If you move the light around, the shadows shift. I wish you had access to a Mac. It's quite dramatic to rotate and pan the 3D fractals on-screen and watch the lighting and perspective change. Duncan |
