Title: little poem about a fascinating architect Post by: filagree on June 02, 2012, 03:53:24 PM A bit of architectural History and Vision- Embodied in the 'space-time' work And synthesized precision Of tetrahedral ceilings, Octet truss support. Brought to life from studied dream By a woman of import. Anne Griswold Tyng saw ways to bring Together diverse form. Ground breaking space-frame structures A departure from the norm. Anne Griswold Tyng (1920-2011) early 1980s quote " In the inner space of human thought patterns and their physical connectivity, and in space outside the brain, a universal 20th century matric can function as a 'mandala" of symbolic psychic source and as a specific objective tool for the making of collective form in architecture." Am interested in the link between what fractals represent & can do, with architecture-livable, sensible (?) cities. Someone like Ms Tyng may not be directly involved with the study of fractals, but perhaps represents one of the untold thousands of conduits that led into this burgeoning field. I don't know- was just impressed reading about her life and ideas & wanted to share it with the forum. :flowers: |
