How did they get that coloring result?

? what do you mean ?

a good start is to use a color scheme generator like this one:

i still do not see on what you are refering to ....

you do not have to work with layers, just choose some colors from the generator, and make a palette containing those values :evil1:

OK here is the image he is talking about:

I think Fractopolis blocks hotlinking because I don't see it in the thread despite the code being written properly.

It looks like a "normal" color palette in Chaos Pro (or other similar programs) looks  to me.  Try one with Lots of lines (bands) in the palette.  I wont have time to play and try to duplicate it until the weekend.

I don't think there is any special mapping algorithm going on, but I hope those more familiar may have an answer now that a link to the image in question has been posted!

hi there, now i got it,  the trick used here is to use a discrete color map ( with a limited number of colors, e.g. 255 ) and then make every second color black, color simply by iteration, thats it ....  :dink:

nice result, but this version is with gradient, i think you inserted just black areas in the palette, but anyway, nice result, and it is pretty hard to get a non gradient in uf :D O0
