Title: Help to draw Minkowski geometry for design a fractal antenna
Post by: jlcortex on April 27, 2012, 11:02:24 PM
Hello,
I am trying to design a fractal antenna like this:

I can draw it with CAD program but i would like to unsderstand how exactly are this drawn.

it seems is a kind of "Quadratic Koch curve" or "Minkowski"
I have played with a online l-systems fractal generator aplication:
http://www.kevs3d.co.uk/dev/lsystems/

I can get this kind of fractals but i can not generate this exact shape.
it seems it needs some reduced indentation so wire don't short-circuit like this:

Is it possible to build it with L-System?
I would be grateful if anyone can help me draw this fractal!!!
Thanks
jlcortex

Hmm Lets see if i can solve this it looks easy

but I can't solve it conventionally

but i will try to show you one way to solve it

give me about an hour

ok i tried too using the Qfractal method but i got the same pattern you did

ill try again later

consider that you confuse the "touching" because the antenna is a modified version, and basically you reach some points exactly as before, e.g. the center square, each corner is reached 2 times, but you have to make sure that on second visit you do not touch it anymore, i think the basic idea comes out of such a system, but it is hand-modified to achieve non touching crossings ...

::) ::) ::)  :evil1: I figured out how to do it anyway and will be making a demo video on how today

ok my video capture software is malfunctioning so ill just tell you what to do

first use the quadratic koach

go to Photoshop and select the area around it

than go to a new layer smooth the selection and apply a stroke around it

that should do it

of course the vidio would have been way cooler because i made the quadratic koach myself

but thats how its made anyway

its not so much a mater of fractals the guy above me was right it's modified
