Title: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: billboll on August 27, 2008, 05:51:47 PM I have a 15 minute-long tutorial on my website that gives a very detailed explanation of the Mandelbrot Set, yet it can be understood by anyone with a good knowledge of middle-school math. Please check it out and leave a comment for me on my comments page. Thanks!

applause, beautiful tutorial, excellent language and description of the terms great work ! Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: lycium on August 28, 2008, 09:52:38 AM fantastic work, i'll be referencing that a lot :)
even though it does take about ~10 minutes to get to from mathematical ground zero, it's great to have it cogently explained in one sitting; hooray for low-hanging mathematical fruit! Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: _db_ on August 30, 2008, 05:31:34 AM Very nicely done and very useful! Thanks for sharing it!

Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: GeomAsp on April 27, 2009, 11:18:15 AM It is a great tutorial. I never thought the Mandelbrot Set was such a simple thing. Does anyone know where to find tutorials on the Julia set ?
Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: Nahee_Enterprises on April 27, 2009, 11:30:22 AM Does anyone know where to find tutorials on the Julia set ? There are quite a few written documents (.PDF, .DOC, .HTML, etc...) that teach the Julia sets. Or were you inquiring about a video for that purpose?? Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: Rathinagiri on July 26, 2009, 11:24:35 AM This tutorial is wonderful. It even makes a dump person like me to understand.
Thanks a lot. Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: Talon on November 18, 2009, 09:24:07 AM Wow - this tutorial is fantastic! I am a total noob to fractals and the mandelbrot set, having only just coming across the latter yesterday for the first time. After reading lots of info on the internet I was thinking I would never understand such a complex subject, but your tutorial makes the theory of it all so straightforward and easy to understand.
So many thanks for making it and putting it on here. Awesome! :D Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: jehovajah on January 07, 2010, 09:57:20 AM Does anyone know where to find tutorials on the Julia set ? A quick search using Google, with the following keywords: Julia set video tutorial Will supply several links that should be of interest. Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: The Rev on September 25, 2010, 04:23:37 AM That was AWESOME!! A concise and straightforward explanation that exposes some pretty amazing mathematical realities. My respect for fractals has increased exponentially (within the confines of 1 and -2, of course).

Thanks for sharing. Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: trafassel on January 28, 2011, 11:51:37 PM Very good explanation of the Mandelbrot Set.
Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: MarkJayBee on January 31, 2011, 07:58:11 PM Where has this excellent vid gone to?!
Just getting a 404 message now, and after I put a - I thought -very helpful link on dA too! :sad1: Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: public_v0id on February 26, 2011, 12:18:36 AM Bonjour, fans de fractales, pourriez-vous me dire comment faire avec Mandelbulb3D, j'ai beaucoup de difficultés pour me servir du logiciel?Merci de me répondre! Kein Problem! Eröffne einfach einen Thread mit deinen Fragen im entsprechenden Forum (http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?board=168.0), benutze die Forensuche oder schreib mir ne PM.on topic: still 404 error :( Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: BillHackett on June 17, 2011, 11:08:29 PM I watched the tutorial and just received "The Amazing Mandelbrot Set" DVD. The tutorial alone was worth paying for; very well-done and a perfect example of how to explain a subject to almost anyone. I need some help getting MacFract to work but will ask for it on another part of this site.
Have a great day, Bill Hackett Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: Yesiamjames on October 02, 2011, 01:49:51 AM This was awesome, really is amazing how simple the mandelbrot set is to define.
Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: mkm1951 on November 19, 2011, 01:29:35 AM Thanks, I am a newbee to this. I love playing with photoshop and manipulating photos (3 years). But am going to try and expand. Thanks for the tutorial which I will have to watch again. Mark

BTW the page renders with some server side code: <%@LANGUAGE="JAVASCRIPT" CODEPAGE="1252"%> and the guestbook link is 404. Title: Re: The Mandelbrot Set Post by: KingOfOwls on February 15, 2013, 02:23:51 AM Beautiful presentation! Very eloquent and precise explanations, and coupled with the graphics, it's truly awesome! I'll be adding a link to it from my site. Robert |
