Title: Howdy, fellow parameter tweakers Post by: tobiles on April 26, 2012, 02:35:33 AM Hi. I have been playing with the Mandelbrot set since I got my first Amiga computer a little while back, but it is just this year that I have gotten very seriously into fractals. I love Xaos, but I have lately been absorbed in the 3rd dimension, well, in this forum I suppose that should be 3.0th dimension. At first Mandelbulber had me, easier to get going on right off the bat, but then I discovered the fine video instructions for Mandelbulb3d, (thank you!!) and it ultimately seems much easier to get good results from. I have learned a lot from the posted images which included parameters, so thanks a whole lot for that, too.
I seem to be having some trouble getting good lighting in my explorations from the image 10253, "Dome houses". Besides that, when I reset the coordinates, I can't for the life of me figure out how to get to where the image is taken from. Navigation is sure a challenge sometimes, eh? Anyway, I love the posted images, so once I get more comfortable here I will surely post some of my creations. I thought I would mention that, from Xaos I have long been taking my images, importing them into Bryce as an object map with the shadings defining the shape, and getting 3d fractals that way. I much prefer the results in Mandelbulb3d in the long run, though. I look forward to learning a lot more. I posted my allotted 3 images into the gallery. Just look for Tobiles. Two came from Fracture, a screen blanker, which may be cheating, but the randomly generated images are mostly unique, and one has control of the colors used if one chooses, and can snapshot the good ones (I'm filling up disks with good ones :-) .) The last one used Xaos and Bryce in a different sort of way from what goes on here, but, hey, give me some time. I got more. Title: Re: Howdy, fellow parameter tweakers Post by: Sockratease on April 27, 2012, 12:43:15 AM I like the images you posted!
I still use OSX 10.5.2, and refuse to upgrade, so I know how you feel using an old-ish OS. But it still works, and that's all I care about. Nice work, and welcome to the forums O0 Title: Re: Howdy, fellow parameter tweakers Post by: tobiles on April 27, 2012, 03:27:33 AM Thank you for your kind words, Sockratease and cKleinhuis . I'm glad you liked them. Some more of my Fracture collection is at: http://www.tobiles.com/?page_id=70 if you'd like to check them out. Oh, I have a laptop running the latest Mac OS, so I can afford to keep the Mini on the old OS (but sure grow tired of getting "update notifications"). I'm truly loving Mandelbulb3d these days, making lots of little (and a few big) gif animation loops and hybrids, doing a lot with scale transitions and other parameters across the animation. Is there a way to post them here? Still have a bit of trouble with navigation and lighting, but I'm working on it. |
