This image is a circle orbit trap displayed on a Julia fractal based on the convergent equation z = 1/(z^3 + 1) + c. The orbit trap is colored using a blend of the trapped point's angle relative to the center of the trap, and the value of a triangle metric at each point, averaged over the entire orbit. I used a copper, gold, silver, and bronze gradient and added depth to the coloring to give the trap a metallic look. This image was generated using the Fractal Science Kit fractal generator from the Convergent Orbit Trap example found in the tutorial examples on the www.fractalsciencekit.com site.
