Title: Please support my fractals! (and enter the competition if you wish!)
Post by: bib on April 05, 2012, 09:17:52 PM
Art Takes Times Square is an art contest where the winner's works will be displayed on Times Square in New York.

If you like my pictures, please support by clicking on the Collect button to vote for me, and the Share button to...share

I need 77 votes to be qualified, thank you for your support! If other forum members want to post their links here, let's support each other :D

Here is the link (http://florencebrunet.artistswanted.org/atts2012)

I forgot to mention: you need to have a Facebook account to vote (unfortunately!) but if you don't have one, you can still send the link around :)

Cheers

bib

The 77 target is still far, I'm at 52 only. Quite frustrating considering I put the link on all my Youtube videos which, in total, get in average 700 views per day!!
Well, Scott Draves -the pope of flames- is at 64, so I'm not that bad :D

Once in one of my videos I put a link to my poll. And didn't got votes even if video was quite a popular for russian segment, and that song become quite a famous (political).

Alsou once I participated in painting mascot of Sochi olympics in 2014. (My avatar picture are that contest entry.) I put links everywhere and I voted from different PC and fake acounts. Not so effective, some get anoyed and voted down.
I found the most effective way to get my entry up is to put link in local latvian sports portal and post something like "please support local folks, vote for me";)

p.s.
Not much time left.

While Johan may be too self conscious to say so, he too is in the New York contest and has put together an amazing set of fractals to show....
Time to vote for him also

Voted for everyone!

Guys, now let's face the reality, this is a commercial operation designed to make money on the people who pretend to be artists!

When I got the email about the 77 needed votes, (I think that was when I reached 20 votes) there was an option to bypass the queue by paying $20.

And now that have passed the 77, I just received another email to register to another contest! Great, I reupload some images, and at the end of the process, they ask me if I prefer the standard option at $25 or the professional one at $50...

Thank you Louis! Self conscious... In the sense of being paranoid, yes! :)
I was a bit sceptic to this "competition" because of the strong facebook connection, and after reading bibs comment I guess I was right...
But I was going to post the link here... I think... ;)
Anyway, thank you for "collecting" my works!
I still have a long way to the (not so ?) magic 77, I'll try to get there anyway...
I will vote for you others, I have an old, anonymous account on FB I could use...

Just reached 250 collections!

What's new is that you don't need for a Facebook account anymore to vote, an e-mail address is enough.

So, please have a look and if you like, click on the big "Collect Me" button on top of the page! (and on the "Share" button as well if you want...)

Here is the LINK (http://florencebrunet.artistswanted.org/atts2012)

Thanks for the support fractal mates! :D

Thanks guys!
The 77 votes bar was just to be invited at the VIP party. In order to be selected for the show on Times Square, you had be in the top 1000-2000 among 35000 participants.

Interesting report: http://www.capitalnewyork.com/article/culture/2012/06/6012774/times-square-billboards-answer-high-brow-calling-art

I don't know how many of the 9 images I submitted have been shown. Maybe only 1.

Anyways, it was a one time event, and each image was shown during 5 seconds, so no, I was not there, but I was lucky to find one of mine by browsing photos I could find on the net.

Not sure if this is big enough to be featured in the ChaosTV news Christian ;) To give you an idea, here are some videos of the event:

WOW, how did you manage to do that?

As to my image shown in Art Takes Times Square, funny enough the same image as been used as the poster for a local fractal exhibition currently taking place in the library of the University of Calais, France:

I was contacted by the company that runs the news kiosks around the square. They have about 8 of them with these 72" screens: http://twitpic.com/48fso3 Not like the big billboards, but closer to the people on the street. I had my Surface Detail animation playing for about a month - never got any leads from it though. Makes you wonder how effective the paid advertising is on these...

I'm not surprised! I did the cover image for the maths fair 2012 in Paris. The flyer was printed and distributed in 20000 copies, the large poster in 400 copies in the métro, booklets also thousands of copies, all with my name and website on it. I got zero lead :D :D

Hi bib,

well done in actually getting shown.

I too didn't work hard enough - but I guess I was a little sceptical of what leads those 5 seconds (especially for those who paid) would bring in, lost amongst the whole show.

I hope it brings you something.

Kam
