Title: Ultrafractal 5 - Selfmade Rendering Cluster
Post by: cKleinhuis on July 28, 2008, 07:02:38 PM
hello, i am wondering if some people are interested in joining a render server farm

the purpose is to have a bunch of people ( 10 ) who are online reachable via static ip, or dns, ( via dyndns )
and then share their cpu resources for UF Fractal rendering, so that each member can use each other
member as a server

i would be pleased to hear from a bunch of people who are willing to join the ccalculation ring

Ultrafractal 5 will be used.

right now we are 2 members, i think it would work nicely if we have 5 or more members, and a system to manage their ip adresses :/

how much processing power do you think would make it worth the bandwidth and hassle? ;)

Got UF5 animation/network version but i just got dynamic ip numbers.  :'( but i wanna play with u 2.
Maybe we can tune our local times and i can tell you my new ip adress with a communication progam.  ^-^

We've got to do this. Right now I'm rendering a 24fps animation and it's going at a downright sad 200 pixels per second. I could really use some help.  ;D

I've got a 3.33gHz 1GB RAM rig running Windows Vista I can contribute with. Tested it with my laptop, networking works just fine.

i am at 280 pixel/s 55 hours to go :) (311 done ) right now my firewall needs to be reconfigured, and it could work
when setting it up by hand, but i would love a generic solution build in into uf5, to easily manage large groups of servers...

see http://www.fractalforums.com/ultrafractal/cluster-scalability-problems-(24-plus-6-cores)/

According to my experience, UF scale poorly :(
