Try Free Camstudio http://camstudio.org/ (http://camstudio.org/). Title: Re: what do YOU use for screen recording ? Post by: cKleinhuis on March 28, 2012, 01:51:27 PM camstudio produces crappy videos with only 1 frame per second or something, could figure out what codec to use, perhaps i need to reduce my screen resolution !?
are there any tutorials on how to set up a performant cam studio system ?!?! i have 6 cores at 2,4 ghz, and an up to date gfx card, so my computer should be able to create at least 25fps videos .... Title: Re: what do YOU use for screen recording ? Post by: slon_ru on March 28, 2012, 02:18:02 PM You need CamStudio Lossless Video Codec v1.4 (optional).
http://sourceforge.net/projects/camstudio/files/legacy/CamStudioCodec-1.4-w32.zip/download Install it and use for compression. http://camstudio.org/faq.htm#Optimize (http://camstudio.org/faq.htm#Optimize) p.s. FRAPS 4ever! :embarrass: Title: Re: what do YOU use for screen recording ? Post by: ker2x on March 28, 2012, 02:18:18 PM I tested many screen recorder.
I use http://www.utipu.com/ for its simplicity And i use http://www.bbsoftware.co.uk/BBFlashBack_FreePlayer.aspx fore more complex screen recording, and it's the only one i found that record all sound correctly (instead of just microphone input), which is needed when you want to record that kind of stuff (wanted the sound output of Ableton Live) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GS7DNT_pgY Title: Re: what do YOU use for screen recording ? Post by: taurus on March 28, 2012, 02:21:35 PM ... could figure out what codec to use, perhaps i need to reduce my screen resolution !? are there any tutorials on how to set up a performant cam studio system ?!?! tutorials: google search > Video "camstudio" = tons of tuts codec: camstudio has a lossless codec, when your hd is not 10 years old this should fit your needs (but you'll have to transcode for streaming)>sorry didn't read slon_ru's advice before resolution: camstudio should be able to record a single window or a predefined area of your screen, so no need to change resolution. camstudio is surely no proffesional tool, but it's free even for commercial use. Title: Re: what do YOU use for screen recording ? Post by: cKleinhuis on March 28, 2012, 02:45:56 PM i will make a test with the lossles codec....
more on that later Title: Re: what do YOU use for screen recording ? Post by: lycium on March 28, 2012, 05:10:23 PM I used CamStudio, it's not perfect but gets the job done:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxNF4NRYc7o Also used the excellent Lagarith lossless codec. Title: Re: what do YOU use for screen recording ? Post by: cKleinhuis on April 07, 2012, 07:43:08 PM ehrm, i just installed this lossles codec., but the camstudio software does not show a name for it in the codec dropdown, i just have xvid4 .....

Title: Re: what do YOU use for screen recording ? Post by: blob on April 08, 2012, 12:38:44 AM Another one for you to try: http://www.uvsoftium.com/UVScreenCamera.php :dink:
Title: Re: what do YOU use for screen recording ? Post by: cKleinhuis on April 08, 2012, 06:49:28 AM wow, thank you for the hint, i just bought the program, it costs just ~50€ which is a reasonable price the camtasia software cost 300€ which is far far far to high. and the uvcam just made what i expected, a nice clean video sctream nearly realtime ... ok, and i now can produce the tutorial video stuff - creating an own mandelbulb formula within ultrafractal ;) happy easter! |
