Title: 2 kinds of errors in Mandelbulb3d 1791
Post by: Mrz00m on March 16, 2012, 05:38:21 AM
first error have is install error, updating to 1791 on powerPC, the second dIFS forumla tab is completely empty, and when i copy a difs text formula it says 2 - 3 different errors, a shape not loaded, a picture not present, formula not present etc. I tred to install about 6 times, using all the directory settings options, and even checking and editing the ini file by hand which seems ok. in win7.

why is second dIFS scroll menu empty and all the other formulas are there?

i installed on my laptop and it's fine, except now this happened. see pic. it says parameters ok. using formula from here:

if you had a previous version of Mandelbulb 3D installed then you may need to change the INI DIRS.  Click the Utilities tab, then the INI DIRS button. Make sure that at least the Paramater and Formula entries are pointing to the proper folders for your current version.

hello, thanks!

i wrote the directory names straight into the ini file correctly, and all the formulas were gone, and then i checked the manual ini button in the program and addresses written fine but still no formulas, and then when i pressed the ini button's formulas directory button (labelled bulb3d/formulas) the win7 browser opened up the bulb3d\m3dparameters folder instead of the formulas one??!?, even though it said c...formulas in the ini button menu. and when i selected the folder from the ini button it was ok, it rewrote it with an extra \ at the end like
C:\Users\Tuone\Desktop\bulb3d\m3dformula\ instead of C:\Users\Tuone\Desktop\bulb3d\m3dformula .... so i dunno why that happened.
HEADfluff or what?!?! windows wasn't copying my ini file settings to the program even though the program showed the ini addresses were fine, it was still using some from a different folder untill i set it using the ini explorer window? fuKK !!! i think m3d can show your adress to be fine from the ini file while still using an ini file from a different folder if you try to edit the ini file manually.

When I paste the parameters, everything seems to work fine; no errors show up in the little log window:

Parameters ok.
Parameters loaded, press
"Calculate 3D" to render.
Parameters ok.

I just downloaded the newest version of M3D and Darkbeams formula file. This is the result I get (after a reduced scale render)

(System:  WinXP Professional, 2002, SP3; Intel Core2 Duo E8200 @ 2.66 GHz)

What kind of error / error message do you get?

Loads and runs fine for me

Load and runs fine for me as well, but then they are my params. I think you may find that the coloring on the params is not the same as my final piece. I do a lot of post work in photoshop adjusting my colors. Also its possible I used a differeent colorset later. I share my params but they really arent meant to be rendered exactly as I did them its really the formulas and the shapes as a springboard for another artist to find his own interpretation.

Hey sorry guys i was missing the weirdcubeIFS in the params thanks!

The directories is a proper bug though, because all the ini addresses in the *look* like they are fine, but if i click to browse them they all open the bulb/m3dparameters folder, i dont know how all the ini directories could be secretly addresses to the parameters folder while saying they are properly addressed. ODD??!?

Where do you look at, when you think the dirs are rightly defined, directly in the ini-file?
The only ini-file that is used now is that in the programs folder, not in the appdata directory anymore.

And i recommend to use always the program itself to change the dirs instead of editing the ini-file.

I will also have a look if there might be an issue, though i will never be able to consider all user possible interactions that could cause troubles.  :dink:
