Title: Hello! Post by: hoddie54 on March 12, 2012, 11:10:16 PM Hello good people of the internet,
I have had an interest in Fractals for some time now. It all came with a fascination for "Complex Numbers". The term seemed to ambiguous and I wondered about what they actually were. After some research, I discovered these amazing math shapes whose length were fractional dimensions. After some time, I really wanted to know how they were plotted (I'm a programmer so I wanted to make my own program), and as a result I found some internet documentation about the Julia & Mandelbrot set (and made the program). Apart from that, I'm 14 and I enjoy programming (Java) and the sciences. What about you? How did you find out about Fractals? Title: Re: Hello! Post by: cKleinhuis on March 13, 2012, 04:00:14 PM hello and welcome to the forums young fella i came to fractals at nearly the same age as you, back in 1989 an amigabasic book contained the rendering of a mandelbrot .... sloooow ... nearly one hour for a full mandelbrot view, but fractals after that hooked me up since then .... my plan is to create a book for young explorers like you describing each type of fractal, its history with example code, in the last 10 years many new fractal types popped up, the best known mandelbulb is one of them, geometry instancing ifs, and flame fractals are the same category of "new" methods ... have fun here! |
