Title: Image change with render size?
Post by: MarkJayBee on March 09, 2012, 02:01:34 PM
Just had a peculiar thing happen when rendering a new param at my final size of
4000x2000 in M3D v1.7.9.1. As you can see from the attached example images,
the composition has completely altered from the preview image!
I've attached both preview and final size params - hope it's something fairly simple,
and down to my settings; wouldn't like to have discovered a bug in M3D!
Any ideas as to why this should happen folks?

Look at the DE Stop in each formula.  It changes dramatically in the big version - it's a feature, not a bug.  Try Un-Checking the "DE Stop +C" check box below the image size display.

I'm not sure how that feature works, but there are times when it helps and times when it needs to be shut off.

Wish I could help explain when it is needed and when it isn't beyond just "uncheck it if it distorts things" - but I can't.

Hope that helps  o0

Does appear to be a keep DEstop+C  annomaly, not sure what's up because it's doing what it should in keeping it set in respect to Image size. Thing that puzzles me is Max Iterations for F1 is zero?

Yup, changing the DEstop manually to 2 seems to be giving a more accurate reproduction
of the preview image now. A wee bit concerned about the DEstop+C not accurately calculating
the required DEstop though....
Don't know how the Max Iter for F1 got set to 0, but it certainly gives a nice smooth finish!  :dink:
Thanks guys!

Almost bet it is something to do with the FIP, had issues with DE stop tracking with FIP hybrids before, never that drastic though, that's a big difference....the Interstitial Phenominom  :dink:

This is a special case, the x2 hybrid method was designed for a dIFS beeing in formula slot 1, not the opposite way.
So this is a bit experimental and i was not able to find all details to give the right answer, just take it as an unsupported feature  :dink:
Normally it should be maximum iteration limited and the DEstop should not have an effect below some values, everything strange but nice result!

Now I am not the expert here in any way, but I am pretty certain that setting iteration to 0 turns the formula completely off, So I would imagine that emptying the formula completely would still provide you with the "smooth finish" you speak of (IE exactly the same as setting iter to 0). Nice piece tho mark.. as I commented when I faved it on DA : )
