Title: Aztec Ruins (Buffalo) - Simply Awesome II (Burning Ship)
Post by: stardust4ever on March 05, 2012, 12:10:35 PM
Greetings! I bring to you a double feature, two brand new Fractal Extreme zoom movies in glorious 1280x720 high definition. These zoom movies were made possible by Panzerboy's fxabsmandvar plugin:

My first full-length zoom through the Buffalo set. I titled it "Aztec Ruins" because some of the patterns resembled the Aztec Sun Stone:

The Buffalo set use the abs() function on both the real and imaginary component of Z^2, creating scintillating kallideoscope-like symmetries. I have slowed down the zoom speed to one zoom per 1.5 seconds to better showcase the exquisite details, so this is my longest zoom movie yet, at 12m15s, to the final mini-buffalo at a modest depth of 490 zoom levels.

Rendered in Fractal Extreme 64-bit, 1280x720 2x2 Anti Alias:

Enjoy my fractal vids? Comments appreciated! ;)

My first deep Zoom venture into the Burning Ship fractal. Fractal Extreme 2^492 zooms - 1280x720 native resolution, 3x3 Anti Alias!

The burning ship fractal is very different from the Mandelbrot set in that it is totally disconnected. similar to my original "Simply Awesome" Mandebrot video, this zoom video starts off at the needle. Hopefully, youtube don't butcher the quality too much. The original sequence was a whopping 904 Megabytes! (x264 VBR High Profile, 17 Constant Quantizer).

Special thanks goes to CommandlineCowboy/Panzerboy for making the burning ship plugin for Fractal Exreme possible.

Comments appreciated!

You should download the plugin:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/fxabsmandvar/

The abs fractals are truly awesome if you ever need a breather from Mandelbrot.
