Title: Hello from Louisa Post by: louisa on March 02, 2012, 02:01:19 AM hello, my husband, Michael Barnsley, has been a member of this forum for years but he is always so busy with math that he rarely has the time to participate here. So I have joined myself so I can keep other fractal enthusiasts posted on Michael's fractal math and software developments which I think might be of general interest.
Michael wrote Fractals Everywhere and more recently, Superfractals, but his current research is into the math of fractal homeomorphisms and more generally, fractal transformations. In particular how these math techniques can be used in the creation of art. So I plan to post some links on the other boards pointing to recent stuff. In particular an app for the ipad which is (in theory) commercial so I'll put it on the commercial board. you seem to be a caring, commited wife ;) what a pleasure to welcome you here! we are looking forward on the information and insights you provide! Title: Re: Hello from Louisa Post by: David Makin on March 02, 2012, 10:06:06 PM Hi Louisa and welcome :)
Say hi to Michael from all the fractaholics here ! I'll try and persuade my boss to buy (or let me buy) the app for his iPad (I don't own one myself though I write software for them) - I'm very interested in what it can do/where Michael is going with his homeomorphisms - I suspect solving simultaneous equations may be involved ? But that's just a guess ;) bye Dave Title: Re: Hello from Louisa Post by: DarkBeam on March 02, 2012, 10:53:28 PM Omg, my hero's wife! He is a legend :)
Title: Re: Hello from Louisa Post by: jehovajah on March 03, 2012, 11:48:49 AM Welcome Louisa. My advice is to encourage your husband to take regular breaks, and spend quality time with you and the kids(?). At the end of the day his family and partner are the most interesting Fractal Pattern and Tranformation he is ever going to discover! :embarrass: In the meantime, keep up the great work in balance and enjoy life. |
