Title: Noisy Picture
Post by: JoaGoo on February 15, 2012, 09:47:14 AM
Hi Experts,

I always get points in the image that looks "strange" (see Appendix). On what parameters I need to tweak to eliminate this image disturbance?

Thanks for the tips in advance
JoaGoo

Try to play with parameters in the Calculation tab. In particular, you will want to decrease Raystep multiplier and Stepwidth Limiter.

Definitely Raystep multiplier and Stepwidth Limiter, the lower the cleaner for that surface noise

At the expense of calculation time of course!

Something for the FAQ, this is like said due to overstepping, reduce the raystep limiter until no noise occurs.
You can test it quicker by using the 'recalculate a selection' function in the postprocessing window.
On critical formulas with very bad distance estimates, reducing the stepwidth limiter can also help.

Recalc a selection is the best, you can do miracles with it in some seconds :)
