Title: Re: Looking inside to see out... Post by: bib on February 16, 2012, 09:56:26 PM I don't mean to revive last week's discussion thom, but I think I just don't know why you don't want to use the gallery? Is there a particular reason?
Title: Re: Looking inside to see out... Post by: thom on February 16, 2012, 10:24:18 PM I feel this has a more direct exposure then the gallery and is viewed far more often. If this is a problem I will be more accommodating and post ONLY in the gallery as per your request. Please pm me and let me know if this is what you wish. Thank you...thomas.
Title: Re: Looking inside to see out... Post by: bib on February 16, 2012, 10:41:01 PM Mmmh I see. In my opinion the gallery gets more views (at least if cK manages to fix what has been broken in the last software update, I mean the most viewed ans most rated in the last 30 days, which was making the gallery quite interesting in my opinion). When you post an image as an attachment, one has to click on the post to see it, because it does not appear in the board. Whereas in the gallery, the image can be seen as a thumb and enlarged if needed.
At least I see you have found some more intersting name than thomz (52) :) Title: Re: Looking inside to see out... Post by: thom on February 16, 2012, 11:01:48 PM I had an e-mail agreement with a gentleman whom I believed owned this site (I may be entirely wrong) and as I understood it I would be allowed to continue to post and use attachments at this location as long as I used a proper descriptive name and limited my pictures to only three (3) per week. And yes, there is a certain amount of creative pleasure in using something other then "thomz(#)" as a description for my picture. I am NOT trying to cause any problems within this site and the misunderstanding was entirely on my end...to wit I again apologize for this indiscretion.
Title: Re: Looking inside to see out... Post by: bib on February 16, 2012, 11:07:44 PM No worries, I am just trying to give you advice so your pictures get more visibility.
Title: Re: Looking inside to see out... Post by: thom on February 17, 2012, 12:10:24 AM Hmmmmm...when I try to post in the gallery all I get is: Template Parse Error! This does take some of the spontaneity out of the creative efforts one may feel at any moment...that is the urge to create and share one's inner angst or engagement with life on a happier plane. Alas, I shall wait and try later...my creative juices shall live to see another day.
Title: Re: Looking inside to see out... Post by: Pauldelbrot on February 17, 2012, 12:17:09 AM If you post to the "Fractal Art" gallery specifically, the image will also appear as a new thread here, so it will get at least as much exposure as posting an attachment here.

Alas, I shall wait and try later...my creative juices shall live to see another day. I have never seen that, and unfortunately have no idea what could be causing it. The image has to fit inside 1200x1200 and be at most 500K (the upload page's instructions don't mention that last part). It can definitely be either jpg or png, though the file size limit usually means you want to use jpg. Other image types might not work, though I think gif does. For whatever reason, the keywords field is mandatory. I suggest putting the fractal type (e.g. mandelbox, flame, mandelbrot) there. If it still won't work, I'd suspect a browser incompatibility, since it seems to work for almost everyone else. Current versions of Firefox seem to work with it and Firefox is free software. Title: Re: Looking inside to see out... Post by: cKleinhuis on February 17, 2012, 01:58:16 AM the template parsers errors occured during my set up with the recent images listings on the front page,
template is 100kb big, and need some time to transfer with my slow connection here .... Title: Re: Looking inside to see out... Posting in the main gallery is reflected in the board anyway. 2. Even if posting in a personal gallery it's still as easy as posting your actual image in a text post to post the link to the image where you've uploaded it, whether that be your own external gallery (say on DA or R'osity) or in a personal gallery here. 3. The direct attachments on individual posts I believe should really only be used for one-offs, in fact if it were my forum since there is a section where folks can upload other types of files I would remove the ability to add attachments altogether. |
