Title: Odd clipping
Post by: MindsEye on January 29, 2012, 09:28:35 PM
The only way to explain this clearly is if you load up a parameter and see it:

Mandelbulb3Dv17{

Fire up that parameter and calculate. You will see a horizon line of sorts that the fractal dissappears behind when you move in the nav. It is actually cutting off the top of the fractal and I cant make it stop. If I want whats "behind" the magic curtain, well... I can only get there by flying down and then up through the fractal, but backing up to get it in focus brings my friend the horizon clipper back and suddenly its all gone again.

What is this, and is there any way to make it not do this?

Thanks!

Looks like you had one of the Cutting options checked. Look in the main window for the tab titled Cutting, then uncheck the Y box.

Yes i know, this is kind of glitch i have no solution for yet.

The automatic "infront" and "behind" selection of a cutting plane leads to this odd behaviour if you are in certain angles relative to the cutplanes.

Remember that you can do also a cutplane using a min DE-combination with a heightmap, if this should be an issue.

ps:  in this case the cutting makes no sense because it cuts nothing, but it should be just an example i guess.

Yea, it was just an example. Thanks, at least I know I wasn't doing something wrong.

I will work around it for now.. Its not really that much of a problem, only when doing some cut, sometimes.
