Title: First post Post by: David Makin on January 29, 2012, 01:33:32 PM Hi all, for now there's nothing much to say except that UF 5.05beta is generally stable and just needs the odd quirk ironing out - more UI adjustments really rather than actual bugs. As to performance: Under both Snow Leopard and Lion the Mac version of UF renders the first benchmark test (on this dual 6-core MacPro) in 4.03 seconds and the second benchmark in around 11.25 secs. For the first benchmark that's very slightly slower than the Windows version of UF under (32-bit) XP on this system but otherwise faster than the Windows version - the Windows benchmarks on this MacPro are currently the top two results here: http://www.shadoworld.co.uk/UF5/Benchmark/Benchmark%20results.htm More impressively the benchmarks for the disk renders under OSX are: Benchmark 1: 25secs Benchmark 2: 1min 58secs I'd guess the difference due to the superior hard drive format under OSX. |
