Title: Mandelbox animation
Post by: jimi2tee on January 25, 2012, 06:01:15 AM
I am not having much luck using the Mandelbox animation features to make animations. So far I've been able to create a test animation, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much in the way of exporting or saving the animations in such common formats as AVI,  Windows MOV, etc. It seems there are four format options. Quicktime's .mov, .bmp, .jif and .jpg formats. All this does is create files with a huge number of frames in them, but no packaged file that runs as a standalone animation.

Can someone please give me a clue to how or where I can get the necessary tools to simply export or output my animations in something besides the Quicktime mov, jpg, bmp, or jif formats? Apparently the .mov output format does not open in Windows Movie Maker. Don't know why, as Movie Maker opens other .mov's not made in Mandelbox's animation feature.

All I want to do is be able to output my animations to some more common and glitch free format directly from the Mandelbox animator if possible. Where is the format save feature if any, for this?

Thanks,
J

What program are you using? Mandelbulb3D? (I didn't notice there was a save as MOV feature, that's why I'm asking).

If yes, you need a 3rd party tool to assemble the frames. VirtualDub is a good option to that end.

Hi ppl!
Download and install VirtualDub http://citylan.dl.sourceforge.net/project/virtualdub/virtualdub-win/1.9.11.32842/VirtualDub-1.9.11.zip (http://citylan.dl.sourceforge.net/project/virtualdub/virtualdub-win/1.9.11.32842/VirtualDub-1.9.11.zip)
Download and install Xvid Codec http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.15.0.html (http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.15.0.html)
reboot.
Open you png, bmp or jpg sequences in VirtualDub.
Go to "Video/FramRate" and set "change frame rate" to "30"
Go to the "Video/Compression" and set "XviD Mped4 codec" go to the "configure" and set Target quantizer to "2".
Save file as AVI.
Enjoy you video.

But why do you keep calling the program "Mandebox"? :D:D

Jimi,

M3D is an amateur program, you can't expect it to be as polished as all the programs you mention. The issues you encounter are quite common. The 3D navigator does not reflects 100% what you see in the main window. It's a fact, you'll have to live with it.

Otherwise, the .m3p file system works fine, I don't understand your issue. You can attach a .m3p file to your post on fractalforums if you want (click on Additional options when you are writing your post)

Please read all posts in the Mandelbulb3D section of this forum and persevere, you will get a handle on it hopefully.

Take care.
