Title: Tragic render / viewing realization : ( Post by: MindsEye on January 24, 2012, 04:29:02 PM I been hammering away making fractals with M3D for a few weeks now, and I JUST now noticed something horrific.
The program renders your viewing size, and not the image size. Every image I rendered is the size I was viewing at and not the size I set the document up as... eek. Viewing at 1:7 with Image settings at: 5760 x 4320 gives you and image when dropped into photoshop or whatever that is like 730 x something.... /facepalm. Is it just me or is this really illogical? Should Image size not = size of rendered image, and viewing just be like zoom level (not have any effect on the render). Off I go to re-render 60+ images that are all way too small even though I thought i rendered them at 5760 x 4320. (eyetwitch). If you save only the JPG or PNG, then yes, you have only saved what you have on screen.

I am glad I know it now, wish I had before I had rendered all those files out but no matter.. I did save the .M3I files so I am still good to go, just a little work to re-do them all. Such is life, the program is still incredible, I can not complain really, its only a few weeks work, would have been worse if It were a few months work... That bit of info might be good to have in a FAQ or something cause I think most people that come from other graphics software will think it works the way I did I am quite sure. But I digress... it is what it is. I thank you, sir, for your explanation. So I would hope I could be forgiven for that particual oversight... it is misleading at best. But no matter, as you say, it is what it is. At least I know now how it works and I wont be making THAT mistake again. (tho i am sure I will make plenty of others! haha) Thanks guys for the input... ///MindsEye |
