Title: Have you got what it takes to Moderate FractalForums?
Post by: administrator on April 19, 2006, 09:19:17 PM
Fractal Forums is the fastest growing community dedicated to exploring and appreciating fractals.  If you would like to play an active role in shaping this diverse community then please let us know!

To become a moderator, you should be able to tick as many of these boxes as possible:

  • you are an undergraduate, postgraduate or doctor
  • you have moderated a forum before / you have a daily blog / you publish a column in a newspaper or on a news feed
  • you have published fractal or pure mathematics related works
  • you can spare up to an hour a day (or up to a couple of hours a week)
  • you can link to fractalforums.com

Please feel free to apply even if you can't tick all the boxes.  Often what's important is that you get along with readers and act sensibly and responsibly towards them.   :)

Please tell me what are the rights and duties of a moderator?

- to greet new users of the forum, or at least to make new users feel welcome
- to police the boards for inappropriate postings
- to encourage participation on the board itself
- to foster discussion, constructive argument and sharing of resources, creations and knowledge in general
- to promote Fractal Forums to anyone that might be interested in the site
- to make suggestions to the future development of Fractal Forums - its direction and future strategy

but above all, it can be summed up as

- to run, encourage and present a (true) image of a friendly fractal community

Moderators have been given responsibility over site contents and structure.  If you know of a moderator not observing these directions I need to be aware of it.
