Title: Has Anyone Ever Tried Something Like This? Post by: Sockratease on July 23, 2007, 10:37:40 AM I've been playing with 3D Modeling, and "Skinning" 3D Figures with Fractals and Animating the Character!
If you've seen my latest post in "Chaoscope Meets Mutatorkammer" (here - http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?topic=473.15 ) then you have seen some abstract work. Here is my First attempt at "skinning" one of the given 3D Humans (Victoria - DAZ 3D Studio Freeware) with that same fractal! Plus one more for the face, and one for the background! http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/sockratease/3dtest3.png (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/sockratease/3dtest3.png) (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/sockratease/3dtest3.png) http://s106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/sockratease/?action=view¤t=e9ee0d7d.flv (http://s106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/sockratease/?action=view¤t=e9ee0d7d.flv) The animation is HORRIBLE!! But it's my first effort. I wanted to have the pretty lady fly gracefully around the spiral, and grow in the process to make the illusion of 3D more pronounced. Well... I need a LOT of practice. The end is pretty much what I had in mind, and thought I set up in keyframes... but the beginning is both slow and WAY off the path I was trying to set!! But The End is Great! I got the "Sliding down the curve" to look good!! But I am having fun playing with all the different ways to use fractals I can think of, and with some work on animation and lighting (Much work on Lighting!) this could be interesting! I make AMATEUR little Flash Games, and think I may be able to create a 3D Fractal World type thing eventually. Could be fun! Practice is next. Then better software. Then a computer with a Real processor instead my crappy little celeron thing. Maybe a nice video card. And Time! I'll need Time to make this work, but that was my first effort at anything like this, so I posted it! Title: Re: Has Anyone Ever Tried Something Like This? Post by: Nahee_Enterprises on August 01, 2007, 10:40:08 PM I've been playing with 3D Modeling, and "Skinning" 3D Figures with Fractals and Animating the Character! I had done something similar years ago, but not with people as the target for a new "skin". I used various objects instead and wrapped fractals around them. Even animated a few, depending on what the object was (such as a plane, vehicle, etc...). It does take a lot of patience and work. And having a fast processor (or several of them) does wonders for cranking out animations. Title: Re: Has Anyone Ever Tried Something Like This? Though I wish I'd applied a mesh warp like I did on this one to get a more 3D effect; without it, the fractal looks more behind me than on me. practice makes (almost) perfect. suggestion: a more human looking girl, not some purple alien Title: Re: Has Anyone Ever Tried Something Like This?
