Recently, there has been an effort to make it more compatible with the current Windows operating system environment. And since the beginning of this year, a few Beta versions have been tested out privately. I just found this beta version today, and was quite surprised. It's much faster than WinFract, the Evolution is there, there are bigger and better resolutions available (sometimes), but it still has some hiccups, I'm guessing that some might be related to a specific formula because it always hangs in a specific procedure (cmplxmarksjul always crashes in evolution mode here). Are there like with Apophysis some other alternative group of programmers that develop alternative versions of FractInt even under a different software name? It seems that new versions (stable and/or development) of FractInt appear only every 2 years or so... Yes, there are some problems with the handling of specific formulas. This is even evident between the DOS and the X versions. An ongoing discussion about what might be causing this is being looked at, by more than one person. But as yet, nobody has been able to pin-point why some images under the X and the Windows versions are having problems, when the DOS version is still running very well. It seems that new versions (stable and/or development) of FractInt appear only every 2 years or so... Jonathan Osuch has been the main person over the past few years to keep the modifications coming to both the DOS version and the Unix/Linux version. There is a workable MAC application that is fairly new, and has the ability to handle many of the .PAR, .FRM, and .MAP files from FractInt. It is called Fracton and was written by Mike Frazier. You can get the latest release from here: http://www.fracton.org/ (http://www.fracton.org/) There is also one called ManPWin written by Paul de Leeuw. This is a Windows version and is a high speed 32 bit program with true color support.
