Title: Programs
Post by: lhill02 on November 28, 2006, 12:12:15 AM
Are there any new programs applicable and usable for fractal development?
Who is offering new fractall programs  in the present?

Well...   what are you using now?

I stick to freeware myself.

I LOVE Chaoscope and am still developing with Chaos Pro.

Both Excellent and free.

One of our Wonderful Moderators posted this link:

http://www.nahee.com/Software/

I found some new toys there!

Nice to see more people showing up!

Peace.(http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/sockratease/peace.gif)

Greetings, and welcome to this particular forum !!!    :D

First off, what do you mean by "new"??   Something that has recently been written in the past 1 to 6 months??   Something that is still being developed and has new releases coming out on a somewhat regular basis??

And secondly, what do you mean by "fractal development"??   Creating your own formulas??   Or just creating graphic images??   Or maybe something altogether different??

Have you tried looking at this posting:

i've got an in-development 2d fractal app snapshot at http://www.fractographer.com/binaries/

that's pretty slow at the moment, for various reasons (like being a 32bit port of a 64bit app with a different compiler, etc)... high quality output tho, check my deviantart / www link for some examples if you're interested.

hi and welcome to fractalforums,

i am also developing some kind of fractal software

Mutatorkammer (http://download.verpicktewg.de/?filename=fractalmovies/Mutatorkammer_Beta1.zip), a Complex number parser which can handel iterative functions

FractAlter (http://download.verpicktewg.de/?filename=fractalmovies/FractalAlter_Experimental.zip), a program to design Alternating fractals, by selecting a sequence of formulas which
is alternated in each iteration step...

Hi,

This is the question actually i was looking for.
My name is Esthefan Maleki. I am editor of a site where we offer an iterated function systems software free and
we also have a pair of galleries where you can publish your works generated by this software.
It is actually brand new, started 01.01.2007.
If you are interested please visit us here:

http://www.illusions.hu (http://www.illusions.hu)

The .hu domain means Hungary, a small country in central EU. Thanks for reading and visiting.

the program is quite seriously slow :/ produces some interesting shapes though, i'll be watching its development!

btw, two minor things:

1. "it brings the skills of professional artists to your desktop" -> i think that's embellishing a little, no? ;)
2. i'm sure everyone knows of hungary :)

ps. welcome to the forums dude!

Greetings and enthusiastic welcomings, esthefan! I am looking forward to installing IFSIllusions :D :D :D - as soon as I'm off line and it's playtime (bounces impatienty on edge of seat). The images on your site are very enticing.

Hello and Welcome!

I downloaded your program.  The images on your site remind me of my favorite Fractal Generator - Chaoscope.

I'll play a bit this weekend and post some results.

Peace.

hi,

I checked Chaoscope, they have very beatiful pictures. I do not even understand why such programs do not spread really wide.
If you wanted to put a new decorative picture in your flat, it is very cheap, it may be 80-95 percent of the commercial decoart and
it is your personal artwork, instead people go to the Ikea.
Back to Chaoscope, it says 3D rendering, so they may use some type of 3D volume rendering.
OK, thanks again for checking us,
Esthefan

Well, Ultra Fractal is not a new program, but there are a dubble infinity of plugin-modules.
For example new formulas for UF are availible in the zip,

http://klippan.seths.se/fractals/articles/modules.zip

More of this can be read at the index page of "The chaotic series of fractal articles"

http://klippan.seths.se/fractals/articles/

The modules are by my dear friend Stig Pettersson (sp) and me (ik). Regarding
my modules, a pdf-manual is included..

Back to Chaoscope, it says 3D rendering, so they may use some type of 3D volume rendering.

chaoscope has several rendering modes, as far as i know, two of which being "volume rendering" (which doesn't preserve visibility order, so no mixing of volumes with solids) and plain old solid rendering. proper depth-based occlusion is very difficult for "particle system" based rendering; i have such a renderer myself (see for example my recent deviation at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/46095424/) and i'm not particularly fond of the restrictive rendering method, although it can deliver "good enough" results.

a member of these forums, don casteel, does true volume rendering of ifs fractals, with shadow densities and so on - you can find his da page here: http://casteeld.deviantart.com/
ray tracing is indeed the best way to do rendering :)

anyhow, 2d ifs still has something special of course! a render i did with your application:

Hello Margit,

This second one is fantastic. I wish it was available  in the galleries too. Please upload or if you dont want please send the source and image to illusions.hu@gmail.com.
I would really do appreciate.

About rendering, the program has some some volume rendering routines too, but not in the published version. I already notified Simzer the author
about this forum. The very details of such technology are far beyond my knowledge.

Thanks again, i am fully amazed.
