Title: Notify on replies ? Post by: maverdigitalarts on November 09, 2006, 10:11:56 PM Hello!
Does someone get replies on posted topics ? I am asking because i do not get them, but the notification is enabled in my profiles settings. Greetings, M.Vernaglione Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: matera on November 10, 2006, 04:09:17 AM Are you sure that you have all of the settings right? Not only the little check-boxes, but the drop-down selector below, under:
For topics and boards I've requested notification on, notify me of: There are four possible choices. I had the opposite problem in a different forum, it took me a while to turn off notification! *laughs at self* Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: lycium on November 10, 2006, 09:30:51 AM no notifications here :(
Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: titia on November 10, 2006, 10:04:52 AM Maybe something else....if I post something and I want a notification, I click on "additional options", down under, leftside, and I activate the "notify me of replies" box. I have to do that once per topic. This works for me...

Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: maverdigitalarts on November 10, 2006, 05:50:52 PM Under "For topics and boards I've requested notification on, notify me of:" if have set Reply and Moderation,
set "Receive forum announcements and important notifications by email." unset "Receive reply notification only for the first unread reply." set "Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic." set "When sending notification of a reply to a topic, send the post in the email (but please don't reply to these emails.)" under "current topic notifications" are listed all topics which i have subscribed for notification, but i i still get no notification. Do i have set something wrong, or is it maybe a board system fault ? Greetings, Marco Vernaglione Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: heneganj on November 10, 2006, 06:12:51 PM Well I only have the top two ticked. Is your e-mail working?
Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: Nahee_Enterprises on November 10, 2006, 07:40:00 PM Question for Jason Henegan (or any other SMF type board owners), is there a means to check if email notifications are bouncing??
Maybe there is a problem with specific Domains that are being sent to. Maybe there is a problem with the servers of specific Domains not allowing anything from this Forum's address. Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: maverdigitalarts on November 10, 2006, 10:48:05 PM Well I only have the top two ticked. Is your e-mail working? Hello! My email is working well, also the spam filter is not the cause, because i also can read the retained mails which were classified as as unsolicited mail. I will try your config. Maybe it works ;.) Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: lycium on November 11, 2006, 12:34:43 AM i can confirm that notify of replies is selected (it's always on by default) for this thread, and i've gotten no notifications for these last msgs :/ email's working fine.
Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: maverdigitalarts on November 11, 2006, 08:55:54 PM looks like a fault of the boards messaging system.
Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: heneganj on November 12, 2006, 09:54:10 AM I have looked at the mail server's queues, and some were stuck, although none to Lycium. I've fiddled with the settings and will continue to look some more.
Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: heneganj on November 12, 2006, 10:10:48 AM Some users are definitely not receiving mail. Reason: this IP is on a dynablock (residential IP) so although I've had this IP for the past few years, some recipient servers think I'm untrustworthy.
Just brought forward the hosting plan significantly. Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: maverdigitalarts on November 12, 2006, 05:50:16 PM hm! Today i got notifications of replies of 3 of my initial postings. But they are not actual ( some days delay ).
Let see if this can be improved ;-) Greetings, Marco Vernaglione Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Maybe this also explains the reason that not all of the "links" and "icons" show up for my viewing of the Members List, or some other setting has been set to cause the problem. And is anyone keeping a list of the known problems happening with the Forum so that they can be looked into and addressed?? Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: heneganj on November 13, 2006, 12:34:18 AM Another test. If you are subscribed to this topic, you might be getting a few e-mails!
Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: matera on November 13, 2006, 04:15:50 AM Ah. Hoo, boy. It is getting complicated, isn't it.

Post by: Jules Ruis on November 13, 2006, 11:58:55 PM Some users are definitely not receiving mail. Reason: this IP is on a dynablock (residential IP) so although I've had this IP for the past few years, some recipient servers think I'm untrustworthy. Just brought forward the hosting plan significantly. In the beginning (month september) I received e-mail messages when somebody posted an answer on a (by me) started topic. Now however I don't receive e-mails any more. I consulted my spam files at my server, and indeed: all e-mails from fractal forums are considered as 'spam' by my server and moved to the spam-box. Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: matera on November 14, 2006, 02:21:58 AM Hooray! :)
One reason I don't use my ISP's spam blocking, all e-mails from forums tend to be sniffed as spam. Title: Re: Notify on replies ? Post by: maverdigitalarts on November 14, 2006, 09:48:52 PM Hey it is working now, got all the missed notification in one bunch today, but they landed all into the spam folder. Had to set fractalforums to the whitelist. |
