jwm-art | December 03, 2010, 03:48:11 PM Hi PanzerBoy, Thanks for the comments :-) The 20hrs is mdz running with two threads on an intel dual core II @ 3ghz (it could have been quicker if I'd run it with say 64 threads, but then I'd not have been able to do anything else on the machine). Yes, the time is for the 800x600 image at 3x AA. I want to explore more this kind of "embedded julia set" (that's how this kind of image is categorized in muency on mrob.com) but it's like the other images I recently posted in that to increase the level of detail (or fractal detail) of the image you have to zoom in ever deeper and deeper taking larger and larger steps getting ever more miniscule |
panzerboy | December 03, 2010, 01:36:34 AM 20hrs is impressive. Can I ask what level of anti-aliasing you used and was that for 800x600 resolution. I've calced this pic at 336x210 and 2x anti-aliasing and took 1hr12min, so scaling to 800x600 would be 8hrs 10min at 2x AA, 18:22 3x AA and 1 day 8:39 and 4x AA. Mdz is far from 'agricultural' for the deep zooms. I want to render this at 1680x1050 for my screens resolution for a backgrop, at 4x AA (16 pixels averages to one) that'll take exactly 5 DAYS for Fractal Extreme. Might save that task till I get an i7 |
