pulsar69 | June 26, 2016, 09:28:11 AM Very well done. Perhaps not enough fractal form for me( for this contest) , but really good video technic. |
LhoghoNurbs | June 21, 2016, 09:28:22 PM Quote from: Patryk Kizny If you look carefully at all cellar shots, there's pretty good shadow integration. Yes, I noticed this. That's why I like how shadows are casted. They "acknowledge" the orientation of the surfaces. Quote from: Patryk Kizny Lighting of the walls coming from fractal - out of question in the reality of distance-estimated rendering. Why? Maybe now it is impossible, but in 5 or 10 years it could be something normal. If you have different views of a 3D object (it doesn't matter how it is constructed and how fractalish it is) it will be possible to find a 3D mesh that produces the same visual appearance at pixel precision. This is enough to support a nice illumination model. Unfortunately, this generation of 3D mesh should be done individually for each frame. I agree, this is too much for todays consumer hardware/software. An offtopic question: why do you have the name of the movie in Japanese? |
Patryk Kizny | June 21, 2016, 06:22:44 PM Quote from: LhoghoNurbs ブラボー! ブリリアント! However, it would be much better is there is a full integration of video and animation - e.g. reflection of the fractal figure in the glass floor, or lit up walls from light reflected from the fractal surface, or refraction of images behind the fractal, etc. If you look carefully at all cellar shots, there's pretty good shadow integration. As for the lobby scene: yes, I realize it would have looked even cooler. Note that the fractal is essentially lit by the environment: I took a gigapixel 360° HDR pano and used i to light the fractal and create specular reflections. Integration in the other way is barely doable in the realm of fractals reality. /1/ when it comes to reflection on the floor I developed tools for that, but had to drop it for the favor of rendering time. It's doable though. /2/ Lighting of the walls coming from fractal - out of question in the reality of distance-estimated rendering. In normal 3D pipeline it would be doable - you'd model entire environment and use it as matte objects. Unfortunately, when you consider distance field reality, modelling anything above simple matte objects like planes and boxes or spheres is not doable. That puts serious limitations in terms of what you can actually integrate in post. Thanks for the comment and your vote! Here's also alternative edit for the internet: http://kizny.com/work/lifeline/ |

It pleases us to welcome you into the Fractal Brotherhood of detailed perfectionist, in The fractal Time Space Mind Continuum. it was said : by those who do not believe in themselves, and thus those that did not venture to try, that you can not come back from the dead, but they do not understand there are different types of dead, they fail to grasp the study of the fractal raw power, of the mind of mankind, . . . yet! But if, . . you, . . like you, try hard enough, and believe, in the power of the mind, no deed, no task, no bond, no goal is not achievable. You can do this movie and another ten times better. Finishing what your diverse team started was quite an accomplishment. We congratulate your leadership and bold vision, and your dynamic positive thinking team members. Thus than Mastering film imagery super-impose- positioning, was your destination, thanks to your innovation and your teams determination and raw tenacity you did it. Bravo! |
TheRedshiftRider | June 01, 2016, 08:26:50 PM Done. Apologies for this missunderstanding. |

I can move it to the "rate my movie" section but it will not be rated for the contest. I've read that posting a bit later is not a problem? Come on guys… Quote Remark about Time Schedule Time scheduling caused confusion, due to contestants spread over the whole world, each of the schedules is a "soft" schedule, especially the entry time. If you come up with your entry half a day late ( but no more than a day), it is perfectly fine. Consider that entries which are longer in the view of reviewers have a better impact, and that later entered entries might get overlooked. You are right. I might have looked at this too much. http://www.fractalforums.com/moderators-forum/handling-of-late-submissions-until-0pm-cet Ill undo the changes since the official post seems to be more logical. |
