FracZky | April 29, 2016, 07:53:48 PM I fail to even get a column... Hint for tutorial. |
surrealista1 | February 11, 2016, 05:40:28 PM very beautiful |
MarkBR | December 01, 2015, 02:17:19 PM Nice work, with a big enough 3d printer, fun could truly be had now! |
Drumhead Dad | April 22, 2015, 05:26:45 PM This is "Perfection" The only thing that would make this better is if you rendered in a much bigger size. This would make a beautiful wallpaper for my 27in iMac 2560x1440...hint hint! GREAT JOB I'd love to have the parameters I've tried to get to here with the formulas you mentioned with no luck |
zooreka | April 26, 2013, 02:50:17 AM Masterpiece... How you pulled Gothic outta this app I'll never know... but great stuff! |
Helicoid | April 10, 2013, 04:02:43 PM great fractal composition |
bib | April 09, 2013, 02:02:51 PM Thanks lxh for the indications. I couldn't resist to do an image with volumetric light, inspired by your style, except that I use the AboxModKali here. Thanks again! http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=13794 |
lxh | April 09, 2013, 07:08:50 AM Thanks a lot surrealista1, Power 8, Louis, Karmafritz! @bib: Thank you for the hint with the volumetric light. I'm sure i will use it on that shape one day. The base shape to start with is ABoxMod2 on Julia 0,0,0 with positive scale. If you then have the pillar use _RotatedFolding only on Z because it works differently in this case and gives it a nicer look than the standard _rotate. Amazing Surf isn't really necessary but works as a quantization to get a ground plan if you don't use any xy rotations. |
bib | April 08, 2013, 08:30:10 PM Now in 1.8.9 you can do it with volumetric light!! I would appreciate a hint or two about the param values with this type of formula combination (positive or negative scale boxes? why _rotatedfolding? small or large angle values? Julia? Number of iter per formula? I don't need the params, just a couple of indications, I like to explore Thanks! |
Karmafritz | April 05, 2013, 02:49:16 PM great render! |
LMarkoya | April 05, 2013, 01:27:30 PM Having just visited ROme and the Vatican, I was awestruck by the churches and cathedrals. Since mayor most of these masterpieces designed by the likes of Michelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo and Bernini are based on the golden section they are indeed fractal like. Their beauty is mind numbing and you've come very close here to capturing it....great job |
Power 8 | April 05, 2013, 02:23:01 AM Holy Triplex ! A fractal cathedral ! Beautiful ! Bravo ! |
surrealista1 | April 04, 2013, 04:42:04 AM amazing, and so suggestive. Congratulations |
lxh | April 03, 2013, 01:45:27 PM Thanks a lot Dan! |
Tahyon | April 02, 2013, 08:25:17 PM cool work bro , love this structures that you make, great work indeed ! |
lxh | April 02, 2013, 02:43:49 PM Thanks a lot Ricercare5, Kali and Torsten! @Kali: Thanks again for these formulas which make this possible. So it's a lot of your own work inside this image! And yes ... volumetric shadows in volumetric light where the volume itself has a diffuse lightening effect to the surrounding would be top. @Torsten: I'm not sure if this has something to do with patience. Tuning is fun! But at the other side, you should do what you can before you start a two days render. |
taurus | April 02, 2013, 01:11:10 PM I admire you for the patience you have in order to optimize the final few percent of quality. But it's true - I can still see an advancement... fantastic! |
Kali | April 02, 2013, 02:13:39 AM Great work, stunning render. It needs some volumetric lighting to be absolutely perfect... too bad it's still a missing feature of M3D, but not for too long I think |
Ricercare5 | April 02, 2013, 12:43:30 AM A masterpiece of fractal art - the sunlight and strong shadows from the gothic columns are so realistic - the slightly dusty atmosphere which scatters the light in the distance also lends a most realistic dimension to this spacious cathedral ! The vaulted ceilings are fantastic as indeed is the whole scene ! |
lxh | April 01, 2013, 08:05:05 PM I wasn't sure about the 'same shape again' thing because this is the fractalforums gallery and not a render forum. So .. Thank you very much for your positive feedback. Cheers my friends! |
KRAFTWERK | April 01, 2013, 05:54:21 PM Holy sanctus! Great work!!!! |
bib | April 01, 2013, 05:28:39 PM Wow, mastery! |
dainbramage | April 01, 2013, 04:12:40 PM Another fantastic gothic structure! The lighting and render are excellent! |
