The mystery of the phantom clock face
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: So, I was playing around with the lidinoidIFS formula, and having more fun with image maps. I had previously played with the parameters posted by Lenord for his Totally Tubular image, but because I left the transparency off when I cooked it up, I got an image map instead. After a little detective work, I found my 53.jpg map file is one of my clock face maps, so whatever Lenord used was in map 53, I guess. I was generating lidinoidIFS using a different map when I clicked on the button to use the paste buffer for text parameters accidentally, and started rendering Totally Tubular again. Quickly realizing my mistake, I tried to move the Navigator parameters to Main that I had in waiting, but the reference to map 53 remained, and where I expected one image, I got the surprise of the clock face instead. It took me a little while to unravel it, thinking it had been somehow "hidden" in Lenord's parameters, and I guess the map 53 reference somehow was. The blue color comes from the image which I have as map 78 which I thought was getting mapped, so there is something odd going on here. I tried to get the original image back, but the clock insisted on staying around somehow picking up the color. Anyway, this was a happy accident, and I thought I would share the tale.

What do you have in map 53? :-)

That is way cool! Love the explanation too. My map 53 is a Mandelbulb render I did way back in the early days http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=7999
