Description: Rumour has it that the French are aspiring to build an elevator far up into the stratosphere. By now, I know that the rumour is true. Far away, in a sleepy village in the Durance valley, I've experienced the thrill of continuous acceleration to a level of 2000 meters. Although it's just a fraction of the final altitude that they want to reach, the achievement until now is unsurpassed. Although taking pictures wasn't allowed, I managed to take this shot without anyone noticing...

Okay, okay, it's really a lift for the stratosphere.

I agree with Madman only because he does not know who Sarkozy! Really you are a happy man. Hahaha

Yeah yeah, you think you know it all... but I've actually seen it! The secret is, that they are using the most modern materials that are hardly visible from the outside! You still can see it, but you have to be pretty close. So, Popol, I guess you either haven't looked careful enough or you are living at the wrong side of Lac de Serre Ponçon wink (This is on the south side, I wonder if you can identify the place...)

@Fiery: Even if the elevator wouldn't exist, the area is definitely worth visiting!

@ Lenord, well I know this guy who has a friend whose wife's brother has this big steel tower in his backyard and he wants to get rid of it. He lives in Paris and if you take it away for him you can keep the steel  wink

@ Popol: Sarkozy? Who is that??  grin

Ultimately, and after a thorough investigation, it is the pedestal of a statue in honor of our "great" President Sarkozy ....   loser

Oh Madman I think you're a pathological liar, I live very near the Durance, is where there is no elevator to the stratosphere ....
Anyway it's a wonderful work in perspective with a background beautifully integrated. Bravo
